Vermont is known for its Green Mountains, changing of the seasons, maple syrup, small-town home affection, and tenderness toward people. However, growing up in Vermont 10 minutes from the Canadian border inevitably makes you siloed. This is especially true for me being from a hometown with less than 500 people, Island Pond. The town is named Island Pond because there’s an island literally in the middle of the lake. The summers were great because of all the water activities; fishing, boating, swimming, etc. At the same time, it was difficult to realize what else was out there in our world when I was ultimately a “fish in the pond.” Simply put, I didn’t know what I didn’t know. As a Key Account for Independent Distribution at National Life Group, Devon helps fortify, develop, and find relationships between the company and its people. He works primarily with the agents but often times the home office employees as well. Every day Devon is given the opportunity to help grow the company and seek reciprocity opportunities for all relationships involved. It does not feel like a job to him, because he loves what he does. As Steve Jobs says, ‘If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.’
Devon started out in the billing department in the Vermont campus, but eventually made the move to Dallas and could not be happier with his decision. Seeing both campuses and numerous departments helps him feel as if he can better contribute to the company’s success. His hobbies include sports, (mainly any Boston team, especially the Celtics), being outdoors, and especially traveling.
