There will always be those who shun the 9-5 job and who are drawn by the potential of starting their own business, and who can blame them. It is stunning to me that annuities have such a bad reputation. Many consumers think of annuities as extremely complex financial vehicles with high fees and inflexible contracts. High profile financial gurus often tell their television viewers or telephone callers that annuity products are offered by shysters and should make you turn and run for the hills.

Shifting Attitudes on Retirement Savings
As a 24-year old law student, one of the last things I worry about is saving for retirement. I worry substantially more about my law school grades and finding a full time job after graduation, and rightfully so, as the first step toward retirement is a career that can fund one’s life and retirement savings. However, having a basic understanding of where one needs to go to retire and how one should get there is vital even before accepting that first job. (more…)
