A Different Kind of Gift: Celebrating National Parents’ Day by Investing in Your Child’s Future

By  | July 22, 2026

“Parenthood: The days are long, but the years are short.” – Gretchen Rubin1

This quote rings true for so many families. One minute you’re holding your newborn, and the next, you’re helping them plan their future. That’s what National Parents’ Day is all about.2

A Meaningful Way to Celebrate National Parents’ Day

Parents do so much to protect their children — teaching life skills, saving for school, and planning for what’s ahead. But what if you could give a gift that supports your child not just today, but for years to come? This year, consider something more meaningful than the usual celebration: a life insurance policy designed to grow with them and help provide long-term security.

Why Some Parents Choose Life Insurance for Their Kids

Getting life insurance for a child isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about preparing for the future with care and intention.

Life insurance for children is a way of giving your child options—something every parent wants to provide. Depending on the type of policy, it can:

  • Provide protection early on: Coverage can be locked in while your child is young and healthy
  • Build value over time: Some policies have the potential to grow cash value that can be used later3
  • Support big life moments: If there is sufficient cash value, those values might be accessed to help with college, a home, or even starting a business
  • Offer lasting coverage: Your child can keep the policy into adulthood

A Gift That Grows With Them

Many gifts come and go. Toys are outgrown. Trends fade. But a life insurance policy can grow alongside your child. Over time, it has the potential to become a financial resource they can use when they need it most — whether that’s for education, opportunities, or long-term security. It’s more than a policy. It’s a way to help protect their future and give them options.

Starting the Conversation

Every family’s situation is different, but the intention is the same: to provide security, stability, and opportunity. That’s why planning should always start with a conversation. Parents’ Day is the perfect time to think about your goals:

  • What kind of future do you want for your child?
  • How can you help support their dreams?
  • What steps can you take today to build long-term security?

Celebrating With Purpose

Celebrate Parents’ Day by considering a gift that can grow over time – one that supports your child not just today, but in the years to come.

  3. The use of cash value life insurance to provide a resource for accumulation goals assumes that there is first a need for life insurance. The ability of a life insurance contract to accumulate sufficient cash value to help meet accumulation goals will be dependent upon the amount of extra premium paid into the policy, and the performance of the policy, and is not guaranteed. Policy loans and withdrawals reduce the policy’s cash value and death benefit and may result in a taxable event. Withdrawals up to the basis paid into the contract and loans thereafter will not create an immediate taxable event, but substantial tax ramifications could result upon contract lapse or surrender. Surrender charges may reduce the policy’s cash value in early years.
