Is It OK To Brag, Even Just A Little?

By September 15, 2015No Comments2 min read

How many of us heard our mothers remind us over and over when growing up that we really shouldn’t brag. Let your actions speak louder than your words.

And then, over and over again during those very same years, we heard Mom brag about one accomplishment or another.

I guess parents can be excused for the mixed message.

And we can sure appreciate why Moms employ what might appear to be a double standard on this score, because we feel a little bit of parental pride over some of the accomplishments that our company has achieved in recent years.

Our charitable foundation, has upped its game and now donates $750,000 per year to worthy causes.

And our employees volunteered more than 3,000 hours in the community last year, all while getting paid by National Life. The company provides 40 hours of paid time per year so employees can volunteer.

Those are just a few examples of how we strive to live our corporate values to Do good. Be good. Make good.

These initiatives are among our core principles to do good in the communities we serve. It’s what we’ve been doing for almost 167 years now, and what we’ll continue to do.

So, even though we can hear our mother’s voice in the back of our heads reminding us to be humble, we decided it was worth promoting what we do. That’s why we produced this video. It’s good to remind ourselves, our colleagues, our community partners, and our clients. Because good often encourages more good.
