This past Saturday was one of those top 10 days of summer in Vermont. The skies were clear, the sun was bright, the breeze was gentle and the temperature was just right.
And so was the riding.
Saturday was the 14th annual Harpoon Point to Point Presented by National Life Group.
HP2P, as it’s abbreviated, is a series of 25-, 50- and 100-mile bike rides in which the riders pledge to raise a certain amount of money for the Vermont Foodbank.
The fundraising is open through the end of the month, so totals won’t be available for a little while yet. But we do know that more than $135,000 had been raised through the middle of last week and that will surely go up significantly. Through the life of the event, more than $1 million has now been raised for the Vermont Foodbank.
It’s money that goes a long way. The Foodbank is able to provide three meals for every dollar raised. There are a ton of statistics about the ways the Foodbank supports family, both directly and indirectly through its partner agencies.
And you know what? It feels really good to be part of it.
About 40 employees from National Life rode. We showed our team colors, riding in really cool jerseys that made our purpose as clear as can be: “Riding to Do Good.”
